Welcome to the world of Sanaria!

This is a high fantasy, low technology setting in it's second age. Magic is prevalent in the world, and roughly 20% of the worlds inhabitants have the ability to use magic, however not everyone has the skill to wield it effectively. There are people with a lot of innate talent of course, but for most people the ability to use powerful magic is out of their grasp since developing the skill to use it effectively requires either expensive schooling or some other costs most are unwilling to pay. Fortunately through the use of magic, strides in technology have been made and there are many new inventions being introduced into the world. There are regions that have entered into industrial era technology with firearms, railways, and constructs that fill several different roles in the world.

With this rapid change, the creatures and races of the world generally try to adapt to the new, integrating with society in one capacity or another. Younger creatures and monsters are generally more willing to negotiate and participate in the world in a way that long lived races and monsters are not, and there are some cultural disputes that arise from the ideas of adhering to tradition, or adapting to change (This is seen most often with traditionally monstrous races). There are Gods in this world, who are limited in the degree they can influence events, but they are careful not to infringe upon free will or destiny in any significant capacity. In general the differences in the world are contrasted best when looking at urban centers vs more rural parts of the world who have not developed to the same degree and where magic flourishes. There are many cultures, countries, civilizations and creeds in the world. You will experience a lot of world views, some positive, others negative, and a lot that are somewhere in between.

With all this in mind, the world is ripe with opportunities for adventure! Have fun, do good, and explore what this setting has to offer.
